The ability to connect your hearing aids to your phone using Bluetooth and operate hearing aids using an app has a lot of benefits. However, when there is an issue neither audiology nor mobile phone providers have the resources to help and this currently makes up the majority of Deaflink queries.
When you have a problem check:
- Is the tubing clean on your hearing aids or does it need replacing?
- When were the batteries last changed?
- Have you updated your phone settings recently?
We found the best way to resolve issues is to go back to the beginning, forget all previous Bluetooth pairings and uninstall the hearing aid app from your phone.
Restart your phone and hearing aids, then work through the manufacturers recommended process, make sure you remember to restart the phone and hearing aids after each step to save the changes (this means turn your phone off, then on again and open and close the hearing aids battery door),
Below is information about the hearing aid apps we helped people with and the process or pages that worked.
MY Phonak
- Check that your phone has an operating system of android 10 or above
- Clear phone memory of all previous pairings and settings for Bluetooth and My Phonak APP - restart
- Connect to Bluetooth – restart
- Download new version of My Phonak APP – restart
- Pair to app - restart
Other support for Phonak products including hearing aid instructions is available directly on the Phonak website including set up and support videos

Oticon Companion
There are two pages on the Oticon website that show you how to link the hearing aids with a mobile phone then how to download the app - the instructions are quite visual so hopefully this will help.
The process is slightly different for android and i phones so make sure you choose the right one when you get onto the website:
This stage first https://www.oticon.co.uk/hearing-aid-users/support/accessories/smartphone
Then this one https://www.oticon.co.uk/hearing-aid-users/support/apps/companion
Danalogic Be More App
Danalogic Hearing aids also have an app called Be More https://www.danalogic.co.uk/apps/bemore-app
Other support for these hearing aids is available on this website https://www.danalogic.co.uk/patient-portal-ambio
What if this does not work?
If you have done everything you can, including remembering to restart after each step, and there is still a problem then you need to contact your audiologist or audiology department for a repair appointment as it is likely to be a hearing aid setting issue that only they can resolve.
When you contact them explain that you have followed the Deaflink instructions and this is what it says to do next.
